Getting back into painting after a long hiatus. The next series that I'm doing begins with The LORD (YHVH) coming down in fire upon Mt. Sinai with the children of Israel waiting to hear from Him.

Reinterpreting Christ Cleansing the Temple

2/12/2012  My sister, a close friend and I went to the Getty Center Museum in Los Angeles to get another feasting of good art. Later in the day we noticed that there was a wing in off of one of the galleries that had a room specifically devoted to sketching and sculptures and artwork(Sketching Gallery). So being curious we went in and looked around, until I was struck by the painting Christ Cleansing the Temple by Bernardino Mei.

What struck me was not only the style and dynamic movement found with the figures but also the peculiar content in which Jesus (Yeshua) is enraged while aggressively pushing away the old woman's offering of pigeons.  According to the Gospel accounts as in Matthew 21:12  " Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the benches of those selling doves". The emphasis would have been his anger towards the priesthood making a profit of the sacrifices and as he stated in the following verse "And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves."

Based on this knowledge I wanted to do a significant change or different interpretation of the painting based on the Gospel accounts. Done in graphite on 11"x14"paper.

Midterm Assignment for Painting class. Objective was to "break the rectangle". This was a bit tricky because a good amount of traditional artwork is done in an angular or rectangular format. After the 2nd week (2 weeks before the midterm) the idea of bubbles popped in. This took a good amount of time due to the layers.

Assignment#2 Political. An overview of the repulsion from the Bush Administration along with the movement following the cult of personality from the last election. For this election year, it seemed ripe for a critique at a crossroads considering the current political/socio-economic track we are in.

Assignment#1 Perspective . This assignment required a good amount of perspective view in the painting. I decided to do the North side of the campus facing the west due to the scenery and lighting. I wanted to emulate the serene ambiance from the location. Enjoy.

One of my other assignments for painting class. I wanted to do a piece on the works of both the late radio host/author/political activist William Cooper and author/researcher/lecturer Fritz Springmeier. Their research and work to expose the agendas of global secret societies, several international organizations and their desire to build a world empire reminiscent of Ancient Babylon has come into fruition for many.

Rock of Horeb

The Rock of Horeb struck by Moses to give water to the israelites (Exodus 17:6).

The actual place was found in Jabal al Lawz in Saudi Arabia. This area was found by Ron Wyatt, Larry Williams and Bob Cornuke, and the Caldwell family(Jim and Penny Caldwell). Cornuke stated: "One of the most startling discoveries at Jabal al Lawz was a massive, prominent, split rock on the west side of Jabal al Lawz, which showed evidence of gushing water from within - jagged rocks that had been smoothed off by an abundant flow of water." (BASE Institute) Skeptics have yet to provide an argument to counter this evidence.

Moonlight Cat Call

For about 2 weeks my cat wanted to make night time cat calls, which led to my much lack of sleep. After the ordeal I wanted to document it visually. The idea seemed comical after the fact. Done on photoshop

TMNT Faceoff

This is another piece of fanart that I decided to work on. The original drawing I did when my brother and sister-in-law came down for a visit. This was done on Photoshop.

Teruah

This was a quick color fill illustration of a sketch that I had prieviously done. I used a mock up version of photoshop from paint.net .Interestingly it does give it a more graphic look that I would expect from adobe illustrator.

For the final in our painting class we had to select a image of various landscapes and do our rendition of the image while applying the process that we learned. This one was probably the longest of the other assignments due to the fact that much of it was done in semi transparent layers.
